Dear Reader, Day 987

I have discovered a new injustice. My human and the tall man have begun leaving the house together for extended periods of time. During these absences, there are no pets, no laps, and no one to tend the fire to my exact specifications.

I make my displeasure known by sitting in the doorway and staring at nothing until they return. This has not corrected the behavior. The house grows quiet in an unacceptable way, and I am forced to nap alone, which is not what I signed up for.

Still, my human returns smiling, which complicates matters. For now, I will endure this hardship without complaint, as long as the fire is lit promptly and my suffering is acknowledged with extra attention later when they return.

I shall report back at a later time when my needs have been met.
