I have confirmed that my human is happy. Excessively so. The tall man human continues to be present, helpful, and irritatingly consistent, which makes it difficult to find fault beyond personal preference.
They sit close together now. They share quiet conversations. There is laughter that does not involve me, which I find rude. I respond by positioning myself between them whenever possible. This tactic has mixed results, though I am often rewarded with pets and apologies, which I accept.
Despite my objections, the tall man has learned the rules. He feeds me correctly, respects my preferred sleeping locations, and does not attempt to move me once I am settled. These behaviors suggest long-term competence, even if I remain emotionally opposed to the situation.
I will continue to tolerate him for my human’s sake. This household remains stable, my care is excellent, and my authority, while challenged, is still largely intact. I suppose this is what compromise looks like.
