Day 939. I regret to report that the situation has escalated. The tall man human continues to exceed expectations, which is deeply inconvenient. He opens doors, refills bowls without being reminded, and has the audacity to be kind to my human in ways that disrupt the established order.
Their affections have increased. There is touching. There is smiling. There is laughter at inappropriate hours. I find this behavior exhausting and mildly offensive, though I endure it with dignity from the back of the couch. My spot, which has remained mine, and is my right to have human free. The tall man understands this, which is acceptable.
That said, I cannot deny the benefits. My feeding schedule is precise, my blankets are fluffed regularly, and I receive apologies for disturbances I did not actually mind but accepted anyway. If their happiness must continue for my comfort to remain at this level, I suppose I will tolerate it.
