Day 930. I am fed on time, my demands are mostly met, and the man my human brought home has learned not to sit in my chair. Progress has been made.
The tall man has proven useful. He refills the water bowl without being asked and understands that mornings begin when I say they do. My human seems happier with him around, which is acceptable, as her mood directly impacts my quality of life.
I will continue to observe him. Trust is earned slowly in this household, but for now, I have decided he may stay. He has also learned that my approval is not permanent. One missed treat, one delayed dinner, and his standing will be reviewed immediately. She tries to intervene on his behalf, but I remind her with a look that mercy is not part of my job description.
They think they are subtle when they talk in low voices at night, as if I am not present on the back of the couch, listening and judging. The tall man says things and she listens with patience. This is promising behavior and suggests long-term stability, which benefits me greatly.
For now, I will allow this arrangement to continue. The house is warm, the laps are plentiful, and they appear committed to keeping me comfortable. If this changes, I will issue another report.
Until next time, may your kibble be good, and your fireplace be lit for naps.
